I don't think I have my first turnings but they were pretty pitiful. My sister has one of my first clocks. I'll have to remember to take a photo when I'm in Atlanta for the Southern States Symposium. Should be worth a laugh or two.

For a first effort, they look pretty cool! I'm really glad your Mom saved them. You'd probably laugh yourself silly at mine. I recently found a couple pics of mine and was embarrassed by how awful they looked! Yeeeeeeee-uck!

It's funny, I was going to post something about us showing off our first turned items. I was wondering how many still have items from our "early days". Not so much me (cause I've only been turning for about 4 -5 years now). But from some of you who have been at it for much longer.

I figured it would be awesome to see an early bowl by Wally Dickerman, Ellis, Russ, or Bill Grumbine (to name a few).

>Really interesting Keith, glad your mum kept them. My mum insisted I keep the very first piece of wood I attacked, wasn't finished just practice (I'm glad she did too). It's really interesting to look back at my early stuff now. I agree with Dominic it would be interesting to see a first turnings thread, maybe divided up into spindle and bowl work.
