When I make my move it's between the Vicmarc 300, Oneway 1640 and the 3520. The 3520 seems to offer an awful lot at a good price. I know of two scratch and dent outlets selling it for $1881.00. At any rate, color or not, you have a nice machine! Enjoy!

They made several changes on the new model of 3520. One was putting a hole through the tailstock and inch markings on the quill feed. I wish they would add indexing. Other than that I love my lathe.

>Great lathe, I have the big brother to that one. Point of reference, If ever your machine just stops turning but all lights stay on and the board is reading normal, check the remote switch. Chances are it failed. I have seen this happen to several friends in our club and the culprit was always the remote switch. Just disconect it and if the lathe works, you know its the switch. I guess they shipped with a inferior switch. Best of luck, Sean

>Powermatic has an indexing unit for the 3520. Check Osolink Machinery and Supply. I have had mine for more then a year and it has a bore through tail and head stock. I don't know why this rumor keeps circulating. I think the original version may not have had this feature but all the ones I have seen over the past two or three years have.

>Your right on Russel. How long would it take to drill index holes in the edge of the drive pulley and put a simple pin through the housing. If they were worried about danger then put a simple micro switch on the pin that shuts off the power switch.

On my last lathe I had to change the bearings. While I did that I drilled holes in the pulley and put a pointed pin through the housing. It was simple and effective. I use indexing more for sanding natural edge bowls and carving on things than for actual indexing.

>Got one in June of last year and couldn't be happier. I did put a pin in the spindle locking guard so I could lock it in one position. Not quite as efficient as indexing but works for me. Email me if you want the pics etc.
