What Do I Do Now?

>Good Afgternoon Friends,
While taking a rare break from flat work I decided to rough out a green cherry bowl blank 9" diameter and 3 1/2" thick. The blank came from a branch from #2 daughter's downed cherry tree. I drilled out the center of the blank to accept the threaded screw of my Talon chuck, spun on the blank and began. Evidentally I did not have the screw well secured in the chuck and the blank wobbled out--most angrily. I shut the thing down pretty quick/and no damage. The trouble is the hole is augured too large now for the screw. First thought is to plug with a hardwood dowel and redrill. But I thought I'd ask the experts before I "screwed" it up worse.
