Char-Grilled textured platter

>Hi All,
Just sharing an image, Char-Grilled is a large platter turned as part of an article on texturing.
The grooves were cut with an Arbortech mini cutter mounted in a Proxxon grinder, the rim was then scorched and the central bowl area finally removed.
The platter measures 16" x 2" (406 x 50mm)

That is a very really good piece. I like the texturing and the chared bit. It reminds me of a sunflower.
What wood is it in? I guess my money is on Ash though maybe Sycamore I have seen a piece where part of the wood went that colour.

The piece is from sycamore and the grooves were cut with the lathe not moving and sliding the Proxxon along the tool rest which was set to let the Arbortech cut on centre.
The different angles of the grooves came by angling the cutter about an inch above or below the centre.

I was very impressed when I saw this photo on WOW, and I'm even more so here.
The "rays" shooting out from the central disk are very very cool. Almost give it a "flickering" quality. Sort of reminds me of Mexican art, and their representation of the sun.
