Another thin bowl

keith zimmerman, Normal IL

>Here is another very thin bowl I did last night. This one is mulberry and it is no more than 1/8" thick. It is about 4 1/2" in diameter and 1 1/2" deep. It has two coats of Minwax Tung Oil Finish so far.

Turning this thin is really a challenge. I am discovering that I like the challenge and find it to be a great exercise in patience. There seems to be almost a zen-like quality to the degree of concentration required.

Thanks for looking.

>Hi Keith,

That looks nice wood, turning thin is a great challenge. I've got down to 2mm (80thou) on one bowl which was getting quite hairy!

If you've got more of this wood, I think one with curved sides and a smaller base would look really good. If you have a curved interior it's also easier to cut the internal profile I find.
