Maple characteristic ??

>I have what the arborist identified as silver maple when he had to take it down. Isabel had blown the top off last year. I immediately started to turn some of it since Ihad not had home grown maple in the past. I turned a n atural edge and what I call a cake plater about 12". I found the wood was wet as I turned it even theough the tree guy siad oh this one is dry make good fire wood. Hah. I sanded and immediately applied lacguer sanding sealer then bagged them. Niext morning I noticed that both had patches of amber coloring on them. About like an apple starting to turn brown. Most of the wood is still creamy white. I can sand the coloration off....I think but I rather like it. Question is this a normal thing to happen? Oh by the way I live on the right coast in Maryland if that makes a difference with the wood....Darryl
