turning bloodwood

>hi,
i am trying to make pens out of some bloodwood
and when i tried to cross cut it i was sure
surprised.it stopped my mitre saw.my question
is am i going to have trouble turning.can i slow my lathe speed down.kind of new at this.thanks

>No, you're not going to have any trouble turning it. Same advice you should follow for anything else, keep the tool sharp and rub that bevel. You're going to love it.

>Be careful when drilling bloodwood. Use a sharp bit and go slow, running the bit in and out to keep the hole clean. It has a tendency to break out when drilled through if you aren't careful.

>I was going to add that exact same thought. It turns and polishes like a dream, but drilling is another story. Go really slow and cleanout the flutes of you drill bit.
