Re:mini lathe

>Hello; I have a Mercury Nova mini lathe that was purchased from Woodcraft that has intermitant problems with the variable speed control. Called W.Craft and were very easy to deal with but I have a question.
I was told that they have stopped making/carrying the Mercury but are willing to take it back for a full refund. Should I let them try and repair it or should I just buy the new Jet variable speed 1014 because of parts availability down the road.
I don't know if there is a nichols difference between any mini and want the V.Speed to make it easier for the wife to get involved.
After we move I will get a full size lathe as I don't want to have to move something that heavy.
