i love wood

Diane Maluso in Ithaca, NY

>hey folks. here's a bowl i turned today. there's no finish on it yet and it's nothing special, design-wise. I just really love this wood and thought you'd like some eye candy. The wood is spalted sycamore.

>So do I Diane. Nice thin walled bowl. You've done a good job of putting the spalting in the bottom of the bowl where it can be seen.

>Hi Diane,

That's one of my favorite aspects of wood turning. You never know exactly what you are going to find when you open up a piece of wood. You can make some educated guesses, but you can be continually surprised at how beautiful a piece turns out to be.

The bowl is not bad, either!

>Hi Diane,

Nice bowl! Thanks for the pics. I've turned a little sycamore, but it did not have the neat spalt lines that yours does. It was nice wood to turn.

I think the thin, elegant look.
