Glue Soaking question for Wally

I have few questions:
I have a hollowform that split while drying. It is turned out of spalted maple. Will the glue turn the color dark? Will it affect the spalt lines (runs, bleach?)
Can it be sanded in the same way? Or will it require any special treatment?
I seem to recall it being a miracle cure for repairing splits in fresh turned wood, but what about dry wood?
thanks in advance
