Need New Lathe Handwheel...

>Does anyone know where I can get a new handwheel for my Delta 46-765? The one that comes with the lathe is only about 2 1/2" in diameter and is aluminum. Not only is the wheel too small, but the aluminum leaves my hand black.

>coat the handwheel with wax and it will stop the black. I would make a wooden wheel and epoxy it to the original wheel.

>Hi Derek - For a previous lathe I owned, wanting a similar change, I simply turned a wheel out of hardwood, with a recess to fit the existing handwheel, and epoxied it to the old handwheel.
Finished wheel was about an inch thick and 6 inches in diameter, well sanded (no slivers), and finished with poly.

>I made one for my Oneway 1018 by buying a nut that fit on the thread and turned my own handwheel. I made the diameter of the hole in the handwheel a bit smaller than the nut and when I turned, sanded, and friction polished the wheel, I tapped the nut into the center of the new hand wheel and it worked like a charm. I made it from bubinga.
