Kelton Hollowing Gate post length

>Hi all,
I just purchased a Kelton Gate for use with my 1236 lathe. The problem is the post length....too long which puts the bottom of the gate about (havent measured) an inch above the drive center.
Does anyone know what the correct height should be so I can have the post cut?
Also, does anyone sell a banjo which will allow the post to go all the way thru? The Jet has a bar which prevents this.

If you decide to go with the Nova banjo, the block that holds it in place is just under 2" wide between the ways, 2.5" wide under the ways. I don't know if that means it will need modified or replaced to fit the Jet.

>Another possibility: the Woodworkers Supply catalog shows a tool rest extension bar by Delta. Basically a horizontal bar with a short 1" post on one end to fit the banjo and a 1" hole on the other for your toolrest or hollowing gate. Cost is $90.
