>I'm the proud owner of a new Jet 1442, but due to limited space need to see if I can figure out a way to make it mobile. I know it would be better to put it in one place and leave it...but really do not have that option. So...has anyone put a lathe this size on a mobile base? If so, do you know of a brand that makes a base for this model lathe; or did you make you own? Thanks in advance for any suggestions/recommendations.

I have a 1442 that is mobile. When it was purchased almost a year ago, I cut a couple of 2x6.s about 18" long. Wheels were bolted through these and through the legs of the lathe. It's great to be able to move it around but of course the price is having the lathe jump around when large unbalanced logs are spinning around.

If I remember correctly, the lathe had a set of wheels on it at the wood show when I purchased it. If Jet doesn't carry these, try AllPro tools, www.allprotools.com.
