eek, a mouse!

Keith Tompkins

>Last night, my wife woke me, saying she heard water running....When I got downstairs into the kitchen, the floor was flooded, with water running down the basement steps.

When I reached the basement, water was dripping from the insulation everywhere. I ran over to shut off the water, I fell; the polished floor was as slick as ice. I think I dislocated my hip.

Yes my shop is in the basement. I worked until 5:30 AM to get it under control. I won't give details, you can imagine the mess.

The cause? A MOUSE had chewed through the stainless steel braided water supply line to the dishwasher. It's a good thing my wife woke me when she did.

Trying to keep my sense of humor....yes, purpleheart floats.

>Sorry to here about your water fiasco, Keith. I hope all is well and it doesn't hold you up too much.

Take care.

How bad is it? *LINK*

>Keith,

I really hope you didn't get flooded out too badly! I really know how that feels.

If you have any questions about "getting the wet out", you know who to call (that would be "me"!).

See ya around,

Not Quality Shop Time

John McAtee - Shrewsbury, MA

>Sorry to hear about your water episode, Keith; however, I am happy you caught it early. I trust there's no permanent damage to your tools and equipment. Such events (I had one many years ago only it was the fridge water line) are not the stuff of quality shop time. A good shop cat has been my rodent protection for some time.

>Oh no. As someone who recently suffered basement water problems, with my shop in the basement, too, I can feel your pain! The plus side was though that I wound up with a redesigned shop, a brighter, more durable floor, and more space. Hope yours has a bright side somewhere, too.

>Put the little bugger in a quart fruit jar with the lid screwed on tight. See if he can chew his way out of that one.
