Dust collection for woodturners

>I have been researching this for awhile. I know that the key is getting the small stuff (.5 microns) when you are sanding. Any advice as to what makes sense to someone who is mostly doing turning. Thanks.

>David I can only speak for myself but here is what i have. I just bought the smalest collector I could, mine is a jet it works very well for turning. Then I bought a felt filter with .5 micron bag I had to adapt it to my jet. make or buy a suction head for the dust collector. I also have the a JDS 750 air handler. I also were a mask sometimes. Respertory problems run in my family. Also for sanding try wet/dry sand paper with mineral oil thined with mineral spirts great finish. Greg

>Dave, In my basement shop I place the DC flex hose as close to the piece as possible. But I always wear a respirator because I know some dust is escaping. I feel in some cases you just need to protect yourself with either a respirator or air helmet type protection. Alan in Md.
