>I took a little time from my new found passion of pen turning to do a few bowls. I ordered a few blanks from Dan Bailey in colorado. I am very pleased with Dans blanks and his service. This is box elder, about 11" diam by 3". This is my first use of box elder, green or dry, and it is a nice wood to work with. Any comments on design or anything else would be appreciated.

>Really nice bowl. Great shape. I like the inner lip a lot. Makes it easy to lift and hold. I agree that box elder is a nice wood to work with.

>Nice piece of wood, Jim. Looks like a few spalt-lines in there.

Need to work on your photography a bit. I'd like to see the profile and foot to assess your design, but can't due to the picture. Bunch of folks here have built simple "photo booths" that make getting good images on a neutral background much easier.

Keep Going!!

>Jim,

Nice bowl. I like box elder also. I've been using mineral oil for a finish as they make great looking salad bowls with all the color and design in them.

Great color when turned green and then finished.
