Small Treasures

>Here are some images of a few pieces I made for the "Small Treasures" exhibition, scheduled to open in March.

I don't know how to enter more than one photo at a time, so bear with me.

the first image is a spin-top in it's storage base, with the pull- handle installed. the second photo is of the top spinning. The top is spun by wrapping a string around the top, and pulling, while holding the handle.

The base is ebonized maple, the top is holly and ebony. The finish is semi-gloss lacquer. Note the foot of the spinning top in the second photo. It is actually a tiny hollow form of ebony.

>The tops are designed to resemble a dancer while spinning, (forgot to mention that) One last photo to show a bit of the box in the center. This one is masur birch, turned end-grain. starting to show tranlucency.

>Amazing - it's a beautiful "toy". I love it.

Does the handle seperate from the top after the string is pulled?
