Planned to make a big bowl not a big pile.

>I started with a piece of myrtle wood root that Sophie gave to me last summer. The wood was fairly dry and the ends were already checked. I sealed the ends and left it sitting outside my shop until yesterday. I figured I could get an 11" in diameter bowl about 5" deep. After I turned out a crack that wouldnt die the bowl shrank and the pile grew. I was not planning on making a funnel shaped bowl but that is what it turned into.
This is what I started with. I cut the piece in half. The front half looked like it didnt have a lot of cracks so I knocked off the corners and flatened one face.

This is the bowl sitting on a good portion of the shavings. The pile would not be so bad if the bowl was hollowed out.

This is the end result. Not what I had in mind when I started.
