Pen from Carob(?)

>When I ordered my beinners pen turning kit it came with several blanks. One was labeled as Carob. This is a new wood to me. It was a pretty scruffy little scrap of wood, but yesterday I helped it become a pen. The grain is not much but it is a rather pleasant color. I chose to use black parts which I think enhances the wood color a bit. Anyone know anything about Carob wood.
I can't seem to get these pic files down to a reasonable size. this was resized down to 17K. How small a file do you guys use?
