Price for walnut
Mike in CapeMay
>A fellow near my home is having a walnut tree removed from his yard. The trunk section that I'd be interested in is approximately 26" in diameter and 12' in height.
Several questions:
First: what would you pay for this trunk as raw wood for turning blanks?
Second: He says that he calculates there's 900 BF in the trunk which sounds high to me. I suspect he's thinking retail price when talking BF which is out of the question, this is raw on the stump, not processed and not kiln or air dried. However, do you have a BF calculator formula or can you give me a rough estimate as to the BF content of that trunk?
Thanks much!
