Atlanta area Turning Shops?

I'm going to be going to a conference in Atlanta in early March - never been there before. Any Turning Shops or do not miss places?
Off topic... my wife is meeting me in Atlanta and we plan to do a week tour towards Savanah and up to the Carolina's. Any locals with suggestions on places to see? If so, please e-mail me.

Have fun in Savannah - absolutely one of the best places in the world. I have two recommendations for places to eat, well three actually. The first is general - go to the City Market downtown. There are lots of shops and restaurants there. If you like Greek food, there used to be a great place on River Street called the Olympik. The 96 Olympics made them change their name, but they may have changed it back. Finally, go to Elizabeth's on 37th - wonderful food. They have a fish chowder that's really good, and their desserts are far and away the best in town. Oh yeah, there used to be an Italian place near city market called Garibaldi's. Haven't been there in forever, but when i went, i liked it very much. Hope this helps.

How are things at HI? I don't believe you and i ever met, but i was in the Diocese of Atlanta for 6 years before moving to WV. I was assistant at St Martins and then St Davids. Say hi to John Porter for me; he's an old buddy of mine.

>I'm not sure if you're coming as far as Charlotte into your Carolinas tour, but Woodcraft and Klingspors are in Charlotte. Also check out the local AAW chapters, and maybe plan on attending a local chapter meeting as a guest, if you can conveniently "tour" that area at the right time.
