Background - Isabel killed a HUGE whomping big cherry tree on one of my bicycling roads out in Butler. I cut up the tree after asking the owners if I could have it and have been turning things from it ever since. A month or two ago I went back for the remainder and dropped off a bowl made from the tree, along with a note explaining how it was done and if they ever wanted more, they could contact me via the numbers/email I left them.

I just got this email...

Hi, Mike

You might remember our fallen cherry tree from Isabel. I'm enjoying the small

bowl that you gave us, and I'm wondering if I could obtain/buy more pieces.

Specifically, I have a bridal shower in late Feb. and a wedding for the same

person in late March. A larger bowl or vase from our cherry tree would be an

ideal gift, I think, for either occasion. Please let me know what you can do and

the cost.

I'm also interested in smaller pieces to give as gifts to family and friends who

remember the tree.

is that tree you told me about? i have cut a few boards for boxes from parts of it. that was some nice wood. my fil loved all of the branches in the wood stove.....

>Yup Scott, thats our tree. I went back recently to get the other two huge trunk sections you left for me. They were still in pristine shape. I bet I got 40 bowl blanks out of those trunk sections, and they're all rounded and anchorsealed. That was about as big as a cherry tree gets - and there's another one that big in my backyard I'm looking at while I type this.

New lathe - don't even know when it is supposed to arrive. I'm laying the new floor down now. Armstrong 1/8" commercial grade tile. No more water worries.
