Teknatool would make a slightly wider variant called "Super chuck wrap".

Oneway would double the price and say that theirs holds more firmly and accurately.

Axminster would repackage the 2" roll as 50mm.

Just kidding, they are all good companies.

Fortunately, more people MOVE than do woodturning, so I think our supply is safe.

Two months ago as an experiment, I wrapped a roughed out a maple hollow form with this wrap, filled it lightly with wood shavings. So far the form has not warped or cracked while sitting on a shelf. I'll let you know how it turns out.

>We use it in our print shop too. When running tight register, multiple pass work, the lifts are wrapped shortly after they come off the press. This keeps the moisture content, and therefore the size of the paper, stable. We've been doing it this way for 20 yrs. I see no reason why it wouldn't work for bowls.

To get back to wood, I was talking to my ink chemist and press varnish's main ingredient is tung oil which they get for (I think he said) $7/kg or about $2.40US/lb. Wonder if that would work on wood.
