Curly Maple Bowl - Critique Results

>Curly Maple, 6" x 4" (widest part) x 1/8" thin. 8 coats of Hand Rubbed BLO (No Gloves)
This bowl is the results of the first critiques I had asked for. The advise I applied to this bowl are .
1. Make the bowl thinner
2. Make the top edge more interesting instead of dead flat.

>Brian, The inside loosey matches the outside. At the "bulge" it's about 3/16"-1/4" thick where the reat of the bowl is 1/8".

>Well done Ron. Proportions are good, curves are good, the rim looks great. This particulr form is one that I like. There are variations that work well. Try leaving a sharp, almost knife edge corner where the curve goes into the rim area. The curve of the sides can be left fuller, and even continue to a more closed form. Then using the sharp edge, curve into the rim. Experiment. All part of the fun of turning.

I really like this form and think you have created a lovely piece there. My only thought would to be to have a less sharp junction at the base it seems a little abrupt.. maybe. Certainly just personal preference though. I like the curly maple too.

That is a beautiful piece of wood you have there, but even if it were nothing more than a piece of bland looking poplar, you would still have a great looking turning. The shape is very well done as are the proportions. Keep up the good work!
