>These yoyos are turned as one-piece...no glue holding them together. Made from inexpensive 1" thick Padauk wood, gluded up with a piece of Maple veneer in-between, getting the thickness to a respectable 2.2".

If you've ever wanted to turn a one-piece yoyo, check out the 1st issue of Woodturning Design, due out next month...link below.

>Hey Ed!

These look great! I am looking forward to that new magazine, but I thought it was starting this month! I sent in my subscription months ago, so I guess it will come in the mail when they're ready! ;-)

>Scott,

Look at the magazine's website...it never actually gives a date the publication will be distributed! It just states that you may;

"Become a charter subscriber by 2/24/04 (on sale date of our Premier Issue) and you could win one of OVER 100 PRIZES (woodturning books, tools, and machinery) in our drawing, to be held on March 1, 2004! (Only paid subscriptions will be entered in our drawing.)

So...you may or may not get the mag next month, year, decade...etc.

Regards,

~Jay...another "charter member" awaiting the first issue.

>Hey Ed,

These are beauties ! While I understand these have no bearings (?), do you have a favorite bearing set and source for those yo-yo's that do ? I'd like to play with some real pretty wood, and try a few yo-yo's (with bearings) and would appreciate your advice -- Thank You Kindly.

>Brad,

I've been using the bearing yoyo kit from PenState for a couple of years, and they work fine. The chrome kit sells for $4.45 and the gold plated kit goes for $5.45. I have quite a few surplus chrome sets available (28 total)...if you want some, I'd sell them for $4.00 each, plus actual shipping cost. Send me an e-mail if you're interested.
