Look Ma...stairsteps....

>Okay...I was reading a woodturning methods book last night and thought I'd try my hand at...."parallel turning axes not in the same plane"...whew..a mouthful. Well, here's my first stab (and I do mean stab) at this method. I used my thick parting tool but I think I had the parallel axes too far apart and really had a lot of boucing going on, thus....a whole lot of ugly transitions.
But....I'm satisfied with the approach and am wondering if any of you have done much of this and if there are any tips that can be shared.
Thanks for looking...I am really exploring new things with the bigger lathe. Needless to say...lots of shavings and not many keepers, yet.
