I have a couple of those Woodcraft toolrests (before they made them "safe"). They work well, but still get nicks in the edge from skew edges. Takes longer to file them flat again (but now I just use a belt sander). The only thing I don't (didn't?) like was the fact that the welds holding the hardened rod to the top were weak. Drop it on the floor and the rod pops off. I re-welded them PROPERLY and have had no problems since.
