>Hey folks,

Thanks to a larger than expected bonus (maybe the economy IS looking up) and a gracious LOML, I picked up a Jet 1236 with stand and all the fixuns' last night. Got a great price on the floor model at the store we hold our local AAW chapter meetings at.

All in all, I'm VERY excited. Can't wait to try it out. Going to check out the new Scroll Saw club forming this morning first.

Hello Everybody! I figure I've been hanging around WoodCentral for a few years now so I might as well officially post a Bio. I'm Jennifer and I reside in the heart of the Midwest in Indianapolis. You'll usually find me hanging out on the turning side of WoodCentral, but I check the Main forum too. I started woodworking about 25 years ago mostly interested in flatwork; small furniture and other items to use around the home. Then I discovered the lathe and became obsessed with it. I've been turning for about 23 years now. My love and excitement for turning has taken me into the world of teaching and frequent demonstrating. Lots of experimenting with textures, color, burning over the past several years. I've recently begun dabbling in metal clay work and have started incorporating it in to my turnings too. It's another toolbox full of toys! When I'm not turning, I'm hanging out with the love of my life and most honest critic, my husband Clay. In order to keep the lathe spinning and the lights on I spend the other part of my day at an ABC television station directing the evening newscasts.

>Welcome to the fever!!! I introduced my wife to scrollsawing back in October, my old Delta scroll saw gave up the ghost by early December so she got a Q3 as an early Christmas present. She sits on one side of the garage scrolling and I make shavings on the other side, pretty cool doing something together. Again welcome, have fun, and be safe. guy

>Congrats on the new toy!!! I also have a 1236 There is a tip that i want to share with yoiu and that is on the stand. You might want to consider putting a piece of plywood on the cross members and add a couple bags of sand for weight. If you are going to turn any somewhat larger things (bowls) you are going to need the weight so it doesnt take a walk

I added a piece of 1-3/4" x 13" x 43" header beam (the laminated beams for door headers). Then I put 4 60lb sand bags on it and 2 25 lb weights. That should hold it in place.

I have to built a 7" riser box for it since I'm 6'5" and this thing is pretty low.

But no matter what, I love it.
