Box Elder Bowl - PIC
Mark Kauder, Phenix City, AL
>Here is a nice piece of Box Elder that my good friend Dom Greco sent me. (isn't interesting that I can consider someone a good friend -that I have never met!! We only know each other over the internet, email and phone calls.)
Originally I planned to put a segmented Bloodwood rim on this one to match the base, but even after is was dry, the wood would move too much, so I just turned it thin, and I think it turned out OK.
It is approx 7" in diameter. The finish is sprayed lacquer. I love lacquer now, but it takes a while to do right. Spray - Wait - Wet Sand, over and over again, but the results are worth it. This piece drew a lot of attention at the Woodworking Show in Atlanta this weekend. Everyone loves the look of Box Elder.
