>The bottom is just flat cut, natural otherwise. I'm going to spray it with a satin laquer to seal it in, otherwise the bark will fray and wither away.

Finished by using a cabinet scraper on the flat stuff, then sanded the bowl to 12000, 2 coats of Mylands cellulose sealer, 0000 steel wool, one more coat and rubbed out with more wool and orange oil/beeswax.

Hopefully, when I get that new lathe, I'll be able to do more of this off balance stuff. I'd have liked to put two bowls in that piece - a larger and a smaller one. THAT would be cool.
