>You need a face board on your gauge. Use double stick tape and clamp for a period. Your cutting board should be approx. 5/8" thick, that will allow you to clamp your strips of wood. The face board should be same height of metal guide. Board to extend past blade approx 4-6". A c-clamp and stop block will give you a safe accurate cut with out slippage. It doesn't get any better than the Smart Miter for cutting segments. Also if you don't have the factory clamp, my advice is to get one now. GT

I think I understand but are you saying to use the Smart Miter for the angle and not the width of the cut? I had thought about that and if that is what you are saying it makes sense.

I have been setting the width using the gauge which leaves the cut segment on the left of the blade.

I'm forming an idea in my head that joins both halves of the sled - the main part and the offcut sled so that they move together and extending the fence to the offcut side, after setting the angle, by doublestick taping a piece suitable for use as a fence. A stop block taped or otherwise secured would position the workpiece so the offcut side is used for the segments. Whoosh, cut one, move it aside, move the workpiece over to the stop, whoosh, cut another...

Should work great, right? I'm about to put this idea to the test in a week or so.

>Photo will show the way I use to use the Smart Miter sled. I now use a fence as described in my last post. The fence is extended beyond the blade on the right, a stop block and clamp is now used. Photo is somewhat blury I had to knock it down a little bit. GT
