Any of the new powdered metal gouges should give you similar edge holding charateristics. The really special thing about the glaser is the combination of a fine gouge with a truly unique handle.

You're not confusing English and American bowl gouge sizes are you? Hamlet makes all of the gouge sizes from 1/4" to 5/8" English sized (size of the flute, roughly). Or 3/8" to 3/4" American sized (size of the rod used for the gouge). Glaser is American size.

Tool Post UK sells all of the Hamlet gouges. They list an unhandled 5/8" English size Hamlet Masterflute Celtic grind gouge for a mere 72.58. Pounds that is. Without VAT. So an astounding $130 USA dollars before shipping from England. But if you want it, you can get it. This is one time where the Glaser tools appear to be the cheap alternative.
