>So far all my pen kits are from the woodturners catalog. I got their mandrel and it fits nice for barrels requiring the 7mm drill bit. Now I ordered the Americana pen kit which comes with the size 0 drill. These barrels are way to big for my mandrel. The catalog only has one mandrel. Is there a way to fit them on a 7mm mandrel or is a larger mandrel required. Or is the answer so obvious that I will be embarassed in asking the question
>Jim, I don't know about Woodturners Catalog, but Berea Hardwoods, the company I use, and the manufacturer of kits for many other companies, has a "B"mandrel (8mm, I think) used on their larger pens. They sell A and B mandrels (7mm and 8mm) that use a morse taper adapter, as well as the 7mm "pro"mandrel many other companies provide.
>The bushings you will get with the kit have the hole size that fits your mandrel. The bushings will be larger to fit the tube, but internal dia. is the same.
