>I posted a message a while back about how I lock the spindle on my powermatic 3520, and now that I have a camera I will repost it with photos. In this photo you can see I have removed the lower bolt from the spindle lock guard. I don't repalce it. When I want to lock the spindle, I just push in the botton and rotate the guard so it is holding the botton in (see photo in next post). When I want to release the lock, I just rotate the guard back to it's normal position and the button pops out.

Good Idea. There will be a spindle lock device in the next AAW journal. Yours is very simple. The one in the Journal is also a good idea. It's sort of a U shaped piece that covers the botton and has a red flag to cover the on and off switch. It will make much more sense when you see the photos.

I took the plate off ant drilled a hole through both sides level with the bottom. Then I put both screws back in and use a piece of SS wire attached to a string, so I don't loose it in the chips, st block the botton. After turning the lathe on with the button in I put a little red flag on the wire to remind stupid me the lock is on. It works like a lock out device.

Wich I had thought this up but I saw it on a thread some months ago. I did come up with the flag thing.
