Those are great, thanks for the pics. The finish looks wonderful. It really looks wet. I've only turned a few olive pieces, but really love the way it turns and the smells. I've not seen any in log form, only precut blanks. I like the shapes with the bark.

That goblet in the post above is very nice as well. Just curious which method you used to cut the captive ring? I know what you mean about turning the cup part to finish before the rest of the goblet :)

>I wanted to get a captive ring cutter which looks like a modified beading tool with one of the wings ground off,but....they didn't have one at the ww store so I ordered one.

Not wanting to wait, I went ahead and formed a bead and cleared all material away from it then used a rounded skew from my pen making tools to actually get behind the ring to cut it free. It worked well excepth that it didn't allow for the ring to be very "tubelike". It is more like a disk.

Can't wait to get the ring cutting tool...

Thanks for posting the pair looks great. I like the form and the two eyes in the base of one of them.

If I can possibly offer a tip for taking photographs. The first two are quite underexposed which doesn't show the wood up very well. This is because the camera has got a bit confused with all the white in the background. If your camera has exposure compensation try taking some shots with +2/3 exposure comp. This will lift the photo and show the wood up more amd make the white lighter. If you can't make this adjustment, try filling the frame as much as possibly with the turnings. If this isn't clear please feel free to e-mail me and tell me your camera I'll be able to work out then if you can make the adjustments. Also hope you don't mind me saying this.
