What's with these "cookie" posts?

If I have deleted the cookies as part of a clean up of my computer, then the web site doesn't recognize who I am when I visit, and I can't tell which messages I have read and which are new messages. So by posting a quick post, the cookies are created and the web site can then recognize who I am and all is right in the world.

At least I think that's what I think it is :)
