Wine goblet finish question

>I have just finished turning my first wine goblet out of some cherry I had collecting dust. I got it done and all sanded and brought it up to show sweetie and she looked at it and said..."what kind of finish do you use for wine?"
I look at her, scratch me head and say...I don't know....(that doesn't happen often).
So, folks....what do you use to finish these?? Do they even need a finish?? I want to turn more because this one turned out very nice and I know when I start showing friends/family...they'll get in line for their set.
I'll post a pic of it tomorrow as I have left my camera at the office. Thanks for the replies.
