>Someone asked for tips. Here is one I use when turning natural edge bowls. When the bowl is thin I take my air hose and blow the moisture through the side of the bowl. I place the tip of the air hose nozzle on the inside of the bowl, shoot air through the side and moisture comes out the side of the bowl. It really removes a lot of moisture from the sides of the bowl. I also use the paint stripper blower to help dry the bowl for sanding. Hope this helps.

Have you ever used this method to force finish (Oil or Poly)deeper into the wood? Seems like it should work. I have used the centrifugal force of the spinning bowl - put a heavy coat inside the bowl, and then spin the bowl up. It is also a great way to find open glue joints in segmented bowl - DAMHIKT.

Just a thought.

>I also know if you put a bowl that does not have a fully cured finish on the outside on your vacuum chuck, it can pull finish through the bowl.

>Mark, I never have, but it might be a technique worth trying. The reason I probably have never tried it was I was afraid it might get oil on the glue on my eyeglasses....he, he....

>Glen-I have an old camera repairman's tip for the glasses-lightly mist a clean cotton cloth with ArmorAll, then clean the glasses, camera lenses,crystal collection-anything shiny.It does wonders as a glass or plastic cleaner, and will keep the CA dots from sticking quite so well the next time!I carry such a cloth when I visit my turned pieces in a gallery-takes the fingerprints right off and renews the shine.
