Dave is a production bowl turner and has really devoted his life to his craft.He`s one of those fellows that is always looking for a better way to do somthing.If you`re coming to Maine it`s worth your while to give him a call(he`s in the AAW resource book)and see if he`s got time to put down the gouge and talk.Watching him work is like watching a magic show.I`ve seen him make a pulling cut to finish the outside of a bowl,smoothly transition to the rim cutting with the nose of the gouge and then plunge right in to the interior using the other wing of the gouge all in one fluid motion.I know Dave,and know he was showboating,but it`s still impressive.He is,without a doubt,the most technicly proficient turner I`ve ever seen,got a wicked good sense of humor too.

>The MT extension is well worth the cost(only a few dollars) it allows more room to work between the tail stock and the core.Dave is well worth a visit anytime you are up this way.

I have one and think it is a great idea. Keeps the bowl blank in the cuck, the cored bowl from flying around when it becomes detached and it does both while keeping the tailstock out of the way.
