Amazing what you can find in your scrap pile
Mike Schwing from Maryland
>Threw this chunk of apple into the pile at the edge of the woods last summer. I was throwing some recently "holed" chunks of assorted woods down there yesterday and picked up this piece of apple. Curious, I cut into it with a pocket knife. Spalted beautifully! Brought it in, let it sit overnight and turned it this afternoon. Pretty!
I can't tell how the pic colors are - the green gun in my monitor is on the fritz!
(I told you Ron that you'd like to have at my scrap pile)
Finished as normal for me - sanding to 12000, burnished with brown bag, coat of mylands sanding sealer. burnished again, another coat, burnished again. At this point - there's a damned nice finish on the piece, but I usually choose to continue it on the buffing wheels.
