>I found this wood about a year ago. This stuff soaks up the finish like nothing I've seen. I used 5 coats of wipe on poly but would have started with dewaxed shellac if I had any. Any comments and advise glady taken as to form etc.

>I've still got water today. Its not discolored - yet. There was enough running down the drive to make it, literally, a skating rink this morning. Had to kind of "aim" my truck down the road and hope it snuck past the rink w/out incident. Add the light dusting of snow we had..yikes.
It can't get better, yet I don't know why the owner hasn't called it in yet - her basement is wet. Add to that the hard freeze we're going to have over the next 72 hours and that crack is only going to get worse. Oh well, thanks for asking.

My only suggestion (re all your pics) is to get rid of the background. If you do nothing else, put a piece of white or black cloth (depending on the color of the turned object), so that the focus is on the piece, and not distracted by chairs, table designs, etc.. Not that I am an accomplished photographer, myself---still learning how to get that lighting and color right.
