I liked Dominic's little office sale idea so much I've championed one around here for next holiday season. I have a jewelry maker just down the hall, doll maker, and I'm working on figuring out how to bring the rest of the craftsmen and women out of the woodwork (!).

For display of smaller pieces, I use inexpensive little clear acrylic display easels that I buy at Michael's crafts for $2.99 a pop.

I gave one to a lady in the office they other day, and the thank you note brought a tear to my eye. She noted that she placed it on her coffee table, and every evening she looks at it and thinks of me.

I too had a hard time parting with the things that I had turned. Even selling them seemed to be a very difficult way to part with them. I got some advice from a friend and fellow turner of mine, Betty, who makes her living turning. She told me that I really needed to sell, give away or donate some of my work because it holds you back if you don't. If you are always looking at the same old turnings you've done, your mind won't drift and envision new and different things to turn. At first I thought it was sort of a silly thing, but I did it and you know what??? I really believe it's true. Try it! The other good part about this is that you feel great about giving your bowls and plates and other work to friends and family....or you feel great when somebody exchanges $$ for them! Either way....you'll feel great and it might even help to expand your turning!
