Can't find - "Spindle Tools"
WoodBiker
>I'm curious if anyone has information on a type of turning tool, that I saw at an Industrial Arts exhibition over 20 years ago. They were called "Spindle Tools". Not for turning spindles, necessariuly, but these tools were comprised of a solid metal spindle approx. 3/4" in diameter, about 12" - 14" lomg. they were held vertically on a base level with the lathe bed. No regular tool rest was needed About 1/2 way down this spindle was a hole mortised into it that a cutting bit was inserted.
As the wood was turned, the spindle was leaned towards it and the cutting bit did the work. These tools put very little stress on the wood or the worker. I have searched for these a bit and have come up with NOTHING. Can anyone help?
