Propane in finish can question

What is the best way to get the gas into a tank - should I use my burns-a-matic torch (sans match)?
How much do you put in?

I just use a normal torch without the ignitor and squirt about a 2 second shot of propane in the can that I am using from and the mustard bottle that I use to dispense the oil from. I have a rack built to hold the mustard bottles inverted and once I have put oil into the mustard bottle it remains inverted until the oil is used up, thus the propane rides the top of the oil and protects the oil against oxygen which would cause the oil to harden. I have been doing this now for over a year with no problems. The mustard bottles seem to last about 6 months before becoming brittle.
