Green Cherry Candlestick

>I have little experience with spindle turning of green wood. Rough turning bowls and letting them dry works well for me as does microwaving but how about on spindle turning. As long as the pith is not in the candlestick will I be ok to finish turn it wet? If not,what procedure works to dry it? I will using Walnut and Cherry.
