Mini Lathe Options
John Weber - GO BUCKS!
>I have a friend looking at mini lathes. I know about the Jet, VS Jet, and Delta. I know General Int'l has one and Nova use to have a mini. Price is important, but anything other then a Oneway will likely fit the budget. Any ideas are appreciated.

>I have the Nova Mercury and like it a lot. It is slightly smaller than the Jet, but when i compared them side by side, the Mercury just seemed better put together. It also has a variable speed motor, which at the time the Jet lacked. With the mercury, you have the option of turning outboard, something the other small lathes don't offer. The manual recommends limiting any outboard turning to 12".

Fische lathes are pretty nice. I turned on one for 12 hours one day. It's very easy to change speeds on these lathes. Of course it's very very easy to change speeds on the new Jet mini.
