No problem, it really wasn't very clear. My own preference is that I like a foot to curve under and sort of let the bowl "float" on its own. I'll steal this post from Dominic which shows a wonderful box elder bowl with a good example of what I mean by this:

Espcially on a piece like yours, where the top already looks so wonderfully elegant, having a nicely curved bottom, to me, just highlights the natural edge.
Also, just curious, but do you know what kind of pear that was? I've got some as of yet unturned Bradford pear and was just curious if yours was the same or if yours was a fruit bearing pear.
