>John: I ordered a "standard" Jet-mini around Jan 2nd from Tool Crib/Amazon.com for $ 199.99 (shipping included) - they are back ordered until about the 17th of January as of the date I ordered the lathe. They guy who took my phone order said they are "selling well", but should have no problem getting them over the next few weeks. Note that Woodcraft is also selling these lathes at the same price, but you'd have to pay tax and perhaps shipping. I think Tool Crib/amazon.com is the best deal as far as I've found....(even the same machines auctioned on eBay aren't much of a deal). I'm looking forward to getting this machine to use primarily for teaching and 'portable' demonstrations (kind of hard to get my Jet 1642 around..!!). I've already received my DC motor from Vega, and am accumulating the parts to do the motor replacement for variable speed. (BTW - made a few small lathe tools in November following your suggestions - thanks!) Rob W. in Iowa

I heard about the Midi from Rockler first but it seems that everyone is selling it for $199.99. In a discussion with my local Woodcraft dealer they came down to $35.00 for the bead extension.
