Here is another one.

Mark Kauder, Phenix City, AL

>Here is a bowl I finished tonight.

Cherry, Maple and Black Palm. 9" diameter, 7" high, walls 1/4" thick. Oil and Poly finish.

The only motivation behind this one, was to use some of the Black Palm wood that I had, and highlight the way it looks in the end-grain, with the fade from light to dark. SO...I created Maple windows to "Look" at the Black Palm segments. I used Black Palm in the side grain on the rim for a contrast.

>Wow Mark, that's an excellent piece. The black palm windows came out perfect, too.

Very nice-I've always loved black palm, especially the end grain. I like the windows idea. I think that's worth exploring. How about leaving a space between windows so it looks more like a window. How about putting a silhouette of a man in one, woman in another etc. You could use contrasting wood. Gosh the possibilities are endless. You could have a voyeur series.

>Very nice work. The first image it conjured up for me was a flying saucer. Not sure if that is a good thing or a bad thing, but it's a thing ;->
