Wood Show in Atlanta - anyone going?

Mark Kauder, Phenix City, AL

>Is anyone else going to the Woodworking show in Atlanta at the end of January?

Wondering about a WC gathering. They have moved it to the convention center near the airport this year - about 1/2 an hour closer for me.

>Bob,

This is the URL.

It is the last two days of January and the first of February. At the Atlanta International Conventions Center in College Park.

I am not sure I want you bringing your wife - she lets you buy so much stuff that it shames the rest of us poor folk!! ;)

Actually look forward to seeing the both of you.

How is the glass bead stuff going?

Mark

>Mark:

It so happens that my company's headquarters are in the Atlanta area. Maybe, just maybe, my manager would like to have me around for a few days around that date.

I really would like to meet with my friends from this forum, and shake hands with a big thank you to you all!

I will find out about this possibility, and let you know. Hopefully I will have a Woodcentral hat by then.

Regards,

Fred

I thought gwinett county was on the north side of Atlanta. College Park is on the southside. I may be wrong, only lived in Atlanta 6 months a long time ago.

John, Yep - the new location is right next to the airport, on the east side.

>Hello, Mark.

I'll be there on Saturday, 1/31. If anyone is interested, I would be glad to host a WC lunch at my home like we did last year. However, last year it was 1/4 mile from the show to my house. This year it is 40 miles. Any takers?

>Very Generous - and we had a great time last year, you and your wife were great hosts, but the distance is problematic. By the time we got back from lunch at your house, the show would be over for the day.

If you live that close to the Gwinnett civic center we'll have to get together when I get to Atlanta. My parents live 3 miles from the Mall of Atlanta.

>I'm pretty sure we'll be there. I've been curious about that big center that they build at the end of the runway - looks like a nice (if noisy) venue. I've been spending a lot of time reconfiguring the shop for ventilation and putting a new top on the main workbench - not much time for turning From the looks of things your turning is going very well indeed.

The glass work has gone pretty well and I've discovered a moderate market for my work. Haven't burned the house down yet, either. We'll be hitting the big shows in Tucson right after the WW show in Atlanta, so my tool hunting might be curtailed a bit.

We'll look forward to seeing you there.

>Hello again,

Yes, I also demonstrated there last year. :-) Turning in "HOT-lanta" reminds me of home (Houston), so it's always a great show for me...

Steven is a drug dealer...

BubbaBob

>...I know this is true because watching him at the Atlanta show last year made me an addict. Now I spend money intended for house payments, utility bills, food, child support, etc., on TURNING...all because I paused for 15 minutes to watch him. This year I'm taking my sons to the show and get them to go ask him, "Why did you make our daddy pay more attention to his lathe than to us?"
